Risk Assessment Surveys
These surveys are held to assess the risk for Underwriters to insure a vessel. They are similar to the Full Condition Surveys with special attention to ascertain the structural integrity and safety aspects of the vessel. It is requested by Insurance Companies when renewing or starting a Policy. However, Insurance Companies are sometimes satisfied with a Condition Survey (vessel in water only or ashore only) in order to fulfil their requirements without incurring unnecessary costs and delays. We recommend to obtain full information about the scope of the survey they require, prior to contracting our services. A report is issued that shows the vessel’s condition and include any recommendations. Advices on how to prepare the vessel for survey can be given to the Client. An inspection of the hull and structure, the systems on board and the vessel’s safety is carried out. Our reports are accepted by major Insurance Companies. In some cases, a Full Risk Assessment Survey is required. This type of survey takes into account not only the condition of the vessel but the way the vessel is operated (management, human factors etc.).
